Brady PAC Endorses 35 More Gun Safety Champions in 23 States

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – JULY 20, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. Brady PAC, the political action partner organization of Brady, one of the nation’s oldest gun violence prevention advocacy groups, today announced its second round of endorsements of 17 U.S. House and Senate incumbents, 15 challenger candidates, and three gubernatorial candidates for election in 2022. (See list below.)

Thanks to Brady PAC’s support in 2018 and 2020, the gun safety majority grew larger in the U.S. House of Representatives, contributing to the passage of historic gun violence prevention legislation, including the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the most comprehensive gun-safety reform since the 1994 Brady bill. The House has also passed a bill to expand and strengthen Brady background checks, and a bill to close the dangerous “Charleston Loophole.” Earlier this year, the U.S. Congress passed a funding bill with historic provisions including more than $180 million for community violence prevention initiatives nationwide and the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). In the coming weeks, the House is poised to consider an assault weapons ban for the first time since 1994.

None of this progress would be possible without a majority of elected officials in Congress who are committed to curbing the trend of gun violence in America.

“We need leaders at the state and federal levels who will fight for bold and decisive action on gun safety,” said Jason Pressberg, Executive Director of Brady PAC. “Smart gun laws work and save lives. We are proud to support this cohort of leaders, who are committed to enacting, improving, and defending gun violence prevention policies across the country.”

Today’s action brings the total number of endorsements by Brady PAC in the 2022 election cycle to 147. (See the prior endorsements here.) Brady PAC endorsements are based on past voting history and positions taken in support of common-sense gun safety policies, and they will help attract more contributions, volunteers, and voters for the candidates’ campaigns.

### About Brady PAC: Based in Washington, DC, Brady PAC is dedicated to a singular goal: creating a safer America by supporting and investing in candidates who are committed to enacting, improving, and defending Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) policies across the country. Formed leading up to the 2018 midterm elections, Brady PAC was created to serve as a counterweight to “dark money” Super PACs created by the gun industry lobby. It upholds the policy ideals that have been championed by its sister organization, Brady — one of the nation’s oldest gun violence prevention grassroots advocacy organizations.
