Leading Maryland Champion Earns Early Endorsement from National Gun Violence Prevention Organization
Today, Brady PAC, the political arm of the Brady Campaign, proudly endorsed Maryland Senator Jeff Waldstreicher (District 18, Montgomery County) for re-election. Waldstreicher, a father of three and long-time public servant, is known throughout Maryland and beyond as a leading voice in the fight to end America’s preventable gun violence epidemic.
Waldstreicher’s legislative accomplishments to protect Maryland families and communities from gun violence are immense. He has helped lead the charge in the General Assembly to enact extreme risk protection orders, ban bump stocks that turn firearms into automatic weapons, regulate unserialized, untraceable ghost guns, and to establish lifesaving protections for domestic violence survivors.
Senator Waldstreicher also spearheaded and sponsored legislation to ensure a robust system for concealed carry permitting sponsored legislation protecting children and the public safe from the presence of firearms in schools, libraries, hospitals, theatres, and polling places.
Notably, in recent years Waldstreicher authored and relentlessly advocated for the Gun Industry Accountability Act, a landmark piece of legislation that finally ensures that the gun industry accountable can be held to account for the harm caused by their reckless or dangerous business practices.. The gun industry, unlike virtually any other, has historically enjoyed a unique form of special protection from civil liability for the deaths or injuries of Marylanders caused by their action or inaction.
