Brady PAC Endorses Pennsylvania’s Brian Fitzpatrick for Re-Election to the U.S. House of Representatives

Brady PAC, the sister organization of Brady, the nation’s oldest gun violence prevention advocacy group, proudly announces their endorsement of Brian Fitzpatrick for reelection in Pennsylvania’s First Congressional District outside Philadelphia.

Since taking office in 2017, Rep. Fitzpatrick has been a critical, and often pivotal, voice in Congress, at the forefront of addressing America’s gun violence crisis. He has garnered the respect of colleagues on both sides of the aisle for his steadfast leadership and unwavering commitment to public safety.

Fitzpatrick’s commitment is both duty-bound and personal. His family lost a brave NYPD police officer to gun violence. And as a former FBI Special Agent who was embedded with U.S. Special Forces in Iraq, Rep. Fitzpatrick has an unparalleled understanding of the threats posed by weapons of war in places of peace.

“In an age of increasing partisanship and political rancor, few Members of Congress have risen so well to the challenge of addressing gun violence like Brian Fitzpatrick. A lifelong public servant, Rep. Fitzpatrick knows that the best way forward is by working together,” stated Ashley Lantz, Brady PAC Interim Executive Director.

Lantz continued, “In the face of increasing and devastating gun violence across the country, Rep. Fitzpatrick puts the safety and well-being of our families, friends, and communities first. He knows that each and every American deserves to feel safe and secure in our society, whether in school, at the movies, or while they worship, and to freely pursue their dreams without the fear of being shot. Brian Fitzpatrick has a record that’s second-to-none on fighting for our children.”

Background:

As an original cosponsor of the Bipartisan Background Check Act, Rep. Fitzpatrick has worked tirelessly to keep guns out of the hands of people who should not have them and to prevent guns from being trafficked into impacted communities. Recognizing the deadly threat of non-married domestic abusers with firearms, he led the charge to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and close the “boyfriend loophole.”

For the first time in a generation, the House of Representatives this year took up comprehensive gun violence prevention legislation, and Rep. Fitzpatrick again provided critical support and leadership. The House advanced the Protecting our Kids Act and the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the latter of which was the first major federal gun legislation signed into law in nearly 30 years. These votes would not have happened without Fitzpatrick’s tireless fight to bring both parties together for change.

Lantz added, “In recognition of his unwavering commitment to ending the epidemic of gun violence in America and for embodying the Brady creed ― “take action, not sides” ― we are honored to endorse Brian Fitzpatrick for re-election in Pennsylvania’s First Congressional District.”
