Lewiston Native and Only Gun Violence Prevention Candidate in June 9th Primary Will Champion Common-Sense Gun Safety and Public Safety for Maine Families
WASHINGTON, D.C., May 19, 2026 — Today, Brady PAC, the political arm of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence (“Brady”), announced its endorsement of Jordan Wood for Congress in Maine’s Second Congressional District, in partnership with the Maine Gun Safety Coalition, the state’s leading organization for safe and responsible gun use.
A Lewiston native, Jordan Wood is the only gun violence prevention candidate in the June 9th Democratic primary and he has made public safety, responsibility, and preventing gun violence central to his campaign. Brady PAC’s endorsement of Wood follows an overwhelming vote by Mainers last November on Question 2, the Extreme Risk Protection Order law, which sent a clear message that Maine residents believe in common-sense gun safety policies that protect families, respect responsible gun ownership, and keep families safe. Wood was a vocal proponent of Question 2.
“Voters in Maine have shown that they want leaders who take gun safety seriously and focus on real solutions that keep communities safe. Jordan Wood is a powerful voice for the common-sense leadership this moment demands,” said Kris Brown, President of Brady PAC. “From reducing firearm suicide to keeping guns away from domestic abusers and other at-risk individuals, Jordan understands that voters want policies rooted in safety, responsibility, and saving lives. Jordan Wood embodies the Maine spirit of looking out for one another, and Brady PAC is proud to stand with him.”
“Last November, Mainers voted for safety. This June, they can make pro-safety candidate Jordan Wood their nominee. He is ready to hit the ground running on day one in Congress, and no one will work harder for the Second District than Jordan,” Brown continued.
Brady PAC will mobilize grassroots supporters and resources this cycle in support of federal, state, and local candidates who are committed to advancing common-sense gun violence prevention policies, strengthening public safety, and standing up to the gun lobby’s deadly agenda.
