Brady PAC Endorses Gun Violence Survivor Greg Jackson in the Democratic Primary for At-Large Member of the DC Council

National gun violence prevention PAC launches first-ever local endorsements to elect
movement leaders to office

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 29, 2026 —  Today, Brady PAC, the political arm of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence  (“Brady”), announced its endorsement of Greg Jackson in the Democratic Primary for At-Large Member of the DC Council. Jackson, a national leader in gun violence prevention and a survivor himself, headlines the PAC’s first-ever slate of local endorsements focused on electing movement leaders and survivors to local office.

This announcement is a part of Brady PAC’s long-term strategy to build lasting gun violence prevention majorities at every level of government, starting in local communities where public safety is shaped every day.

“For Greg Jackson, building a safer DC isn’t just a campaign promise: it is a necessity grounded in lived experience. Meaningful progress starts at the local level, and Greg has proven that he has the heart and the hustle to deliver it. Greg is the leader you want at the table and in your corner when courage and bold action are required. Brady PAC is proud to endorse Greg Jackson and his vision for a safer, stronger District of Columbia,” said Kris Brown, President of Brady PAC.

After surviving a near-fatal shooting in April 2013, and also after losing multiple family friends to gun violence, Jackson made public safety a personal and professional mission. His advocacy most recently includes serving as a Special Assistant to President Joe Biden and Deputy Director of the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, where he led a nearly 50 percent reduction in nationwide homicides over a three-year period. Jackson also helmed one of the nation’s leading Black survivor led gun violence prevention advocacy organizations, Community Justice Action Fund, and served in leadership roles throughout the DC government. Jackson would bring a proven record of mobilizing communities and effectuating change to the DC Council.

Brady PAC will mobilize grassroots supporters this cycle in support of candidates who will advance common-sense gun violence prevention policies, strengthen public safety, and stand up to the gun lobby’s deadly agenda.
