Brady PAC Endorses Andy Kim for U.S. Senate

WASHINGTON – Building on an expansive grassroots movement in New Jersey, and calls for reform to the state’s anti-democratic “county line system,” Brady PAC today endorsed Congressman Andy Kim for U.S. Senate.

“Too many families have buried loved ones because of senseless gun violence and it’s long past time for our country to have the courage to take meaningful action on this issue,” said Congressman Kim. “I’m proud to be backed by Brady PAC, an organization that has been a leader in gun violence prevention across the country, and I am ready to continue fighting for common sense gun control reform in the Senate.”

“Andy Kim is decent, empathetic, thoughtful, and effective. He has always led, from his very first moment running for office, on the promise of a better and safer America for our children. We at Brady are honored to endorse Andy Kim as the next Senator from New Jersey,” said Parkland dad and Brady PAC senior advisor, Fred Guttenberg, father of Jaime Taylor Guttenberg.

“Democracy, anti-corruption, and public safety are on the ballot this year in New Jersey. Andy Kim will make history as the first AAPI U.S. Senator from the East Coast, and he will equally make an astounding impact on reducing gun violence among communities of color,” stated Ashley Lantz, executive director of Brady PAC.

With Brady PAC’s endorsement and support, Andy Kim was first elected to the U.S. House in 2018, where he has led on solutions to reduce gun violence that disproportionately impacts Black, Brown, and Asian American communities. Importantly, Kim brought House colleagues together to ensure the passage of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act in 2022. Additionally, he has co-sponsored and/or supported legislation to ensure universal background checks, ban the manufacturing of new assault weapons, prohibit the use of high capacity magazines, encourage safe storage of firearms, and much more.

During his run for the U.S. Senate, Kim has called strongly for greater transparency, a replacement of New Jersey’s anti-democratic “county line system” with block ballots, and he also has urged greater gun reforms.

Brady PAC, the political arm of Brady, was created in 2018 to counter the gun industry lobby’s dark money Super PACs. Brady PAC endorses gun violence prevention champions who support common-sense gun safety policies, including universal background checks, safe storage, and a ban on new assault weapons.
