These Proven Leaders Will Turn Electoral Victory into Life-Saving Action in the next Congress. Winning the House is the First Step.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Brady PAC, the political arm of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence (“Brady”), announced its endorsement of 26 proven gun violence prevention champions for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. This endorsement slate recognizes lawmakers who have consistently fought to protect American families, stand up to the reckless and deadly gun lobby, and advance common-sense, evidence-based policies that save lives.
As the fight for control of the House intensifies, Brady PAC is supporting leaders who will be essential to delivering meaningful progress on gun reform when voters elect a new House majority this November.
“Winning back the House is the first step in getting this country back on track to governing for the safety and wellbeing of America’s children and communities,” said Kris Brown, president of Brady PAC. “These 26 members of Congress have never wavered in their commitment to ending gun violence in America, even when it meant standing up to one of the most corrupt special interests in Washington, the gun lobby. These are the leaders who will help lead a Congress that puts public safety first and moves this country forward to much better days ahead.”
A gun violence prevention congressional majority in Washington would provide the opportunity for lawmakers to advance comprehensive gun safety legislation that reflects the will of the overwhelming majority of Americans. Brady PAC is supporting leaders who have committed to strengthening background checks, protecting survivors of domestic violence, advancing secure firearm storage, eradicating homemade and untraceable ghost guns from our streets, investing in community violence intervention programs, and holding the gun industry accountable when it breaks the law.
“The current House majority has repeatedly blocked meaningful public safety legislation while catering to the demands of its pals in the gun industry, instead of addressing a leading cause of death for kids in America. Those days are about to be over,” Brown continued. “Our vision is simple, it is necessary, and it is shared by the majority of Americans: every American should be able to go to school, worship, shop, celebrate, and grow old without the fear of being shot. These are the leaders who will get us there.”
Brady PAC will mobilize grassroots supporters and make strategic investments in congressional and state races this cycle.
