Brady PAC Endorses 19 NJ General Assembly Candidates for Re-Election

Today, Brady PAC, the political arm of the Brady Campaign, endorsed 19 New Jersey General Assembly candidates for re-election in one of the leading gun violence prevention states in the country. These endorsements are part of Brady PAC’s campaign to deliver a strong General Assembly majority for Brady-endorsed gubernatorial candidate Mikie Sherrill in Trenton.

The Garden State currently has one of the lowest firearm death rates in America due to comprehensive Brady-backed gun violence prevention policies, including universal background checks, regulation of homemade and untraceable ghost guns, extreme risk protection orders, gun dealer oversight and gun industry accountability, robust concealed carry permitting, and a ban on assault weapons.

All of this progress is at risk if Trump-backed Jack Ciattarelli and his endorsed slate of legislative candidates win in November. Ciattarelli’s dangerous and deadly agenda that he could attempt to advance with legislative gains includes his record of opposition to background checks, support of large capacity magazines, and support of relaxed requirements for concealed carry permits – all policies that have been demonstrably shown to increase rates of violent crime.

Karen Kanter, president of Brady New Jersey, said: “New Jerseyans have voted time and time again for strong gun laws to protect our children and communities. Our state cannot afford to reverse course. We must elect a strong majority in the Assembly that will partner with Mikie Sherrill to build on our state’s progress on gun violence prevention and deliver what every New Jerseyan deserves: a future free from the fear and the absolute devastation of gun violence. Brady’s grassroots advocates are proud to stand with these 19 candidates in the fight for a safer New Jersey.”

Ashley Lantz, executive director of Brady PAC, said: “Brady’s endorsed candidates for the General Assembly stand with the victims of gun violence in New Jersey and all New Jerseyans who want safe neighborhoods. They stand with the parents who worry about their children’s safety, with the Black and Brown communities disproportionately harmed by gun violence, with the children traumatized by active-shooter drills, and with every family mourning a preventable loss. These candidates are committed to passing secure storage laws, increasing funding for community violence intervention programs, and ending the flow of taxpayer money to irresponsible gun businesses. They will get the job done, and so this November, we urge New Jerseyans to vote for them and for Mikie Sherrill to make the Garden State safer.”
