Brady PAC Applauds Kirsten Engel after AZ-06 Debate

TUCSON, AZ., October 9, 2024 — The Brady Campaign, the nation’s leading gun violence prevention group, and Brady PAC today applauded endorsed-candidate Kirsten Engel after a strong performance in her debate against Juan Ciscomani. The debate comes only days after Brady PAC and Kirsten Engel hosted a Tuscon roundtable with local survivors of mass shootings, and as voters continue to report that gun violence is a top concern in the upcoming election.

“It’s unthinkable that the man who gets paid to represent the Gabby Giffords district – where 6 were murdered and 13 injured in a mass shooting – has not taken even a single step to reduce gun violence in this community,” said Ashley Lantz, Executive Director of Brady PAC, the political arm of the Brady campaign. “The people of Arizona’s 6th district are hungry for a representative who will put the safety of their kids and community above the interests of the gun lobby – and Kirsten Engel is that person. Brady is proud to support her.”

“It’s critical that we elect a gun safety majority to the U.S. House this fall – and all roads to a majority lead through Arizona’s 6th district,” said Kris Brown, President of Brady and Chair of Brady PAC. “Americans across the country deserve leaders who will stand up to the gun lobby, and that’s particularly important in Arizona, where the firearm suicide rate is 53% higher than the national average. That’s why Brady is laser-focused on defeating Juan Ciscomani this November – and we look forward to electing Kirsten Engel to Congress on November 5th.”

On Friday, the Brady Campaign and Brady PAC joined Kirsten Engel for a roundtable with local survivors of mass shootings and other Arizona 6th voters impacted by gun violence. This event was part of Brady’s multi-state campaign to unseat the ‘Gun Lobby’s Freshman Five‘ – first-term pro-gun extremists in competitive districts who prioritize gun industry profits over community safety.
