WASHINGTON – In response to at least 10 individuals being shot today during the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl celebration on the same day as the remembrance for the Parkland and Northern Illinois University shootings, Brady PAC released the following statement:
“Missourians and all Chiefs fans today should have been safely celebrating at the victory parade, making memories with their loved ones and community. Instead, lives have been forever changed. For decades, it has been the same story: communities coming together in celebration, in prayer, in song, only to have their lives ended or threatened at the end of a gun. We all deserve leadership in Congress and in state capitals that is going to keep us safe from gun violence,” said Ashley Lantz, Brady PAC executive director.
“We can’t hope and pray our way out of our gun problem any more than those families can hope and pray for their loved ones to be with them again. We owe them more and we owe each other more. Our leaders must act, and they must act NOW.”
Brady PAC, the political arm of Brady, was created in 2018 to counter the gun industry lobby’s dark money Super PACs. Brady PAC endorses gun violence prevention champions who support common-sense gun safety policies, including universal background checks, safe storage, and a ban on new assault weapons.
