Brady PAC Endorses Veterans and National Security Experts for House and Senate Election in 2022

WASHINGTON – Brady PAC, the sister organization of Brady, one of the nation’s oldest gun violence prevention advocacy groups, announced today its first round of endorsements of a dozen veterans and national security experts for election to the House and Senate in 2022.

“Our brave soldiers in the armed services and our national security personnel understand leadership, and they certainly understand responsibility, particularly the responsibility required to own and handle firearms. Brady PAC is proud to support twelve great patriots who continue to rise to the challenge in support of common-sense reforms to keep weapons out of the hands of those who cannot responsibly use them, and to keep weapons of war out of our communities,” stated Jason Pressberg, Executive Director, Brady PAC.

“The 2022 election is perhaps now the most important election of our lifetime,” Pressberg continued. “We need bipartisan solutions to reduce gun violence, including firearm suicides among U.S. military veterans. No one understands what’s at stake for our country, and its future, more than these twelve impressive candidates.”

In response to Brady PAC’s endorsement, Congressman Jake Auchincloss (D-MA-4) shared, “I slept, ate, trained, and patrolled with an assault weapon for four years as a Marine — weapons of war have no place on our streets. I am honored to receive Brady PAC’s endorsement. Together, we can build a future free of gun violence.”

With Brady PAC’s support in 2018 and 2020, a record number of veterans and national security experts who support gun safety were elected to Congress. These candidates went on to pass historic gun violence prevention legislation, including expanding and strengthening Brady background checks and closing the dangerous ‘Charleston Loophole.’  In 2022, electing these candidates will be critical to passing additional gun safety policies, addressing disturbing trends including the increased number of veteran deaths by firearm suicide, and the use of firearms to enact domestic terrorism and influence election outcomes.

Brady PAC’s endorsement of U.S. House and Senate incumbents and challengers for the 2022 election cycle is based on past voting history and positions in support of common-sense gun safety policies.

About Brady PAC:

Based in Washington, DC, Brady PAC is dedicated to a singular goal: creating a safer America by supporting and investing in candidates who are committed to enacting, improving, and defending Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) policies across the country.

Formed leading up to the 2018 midterm elections, Brady PAC was created to serve as a counterweight to “dark money” Super PACs created by the gun industry lobby. It upholds the policy ideals that have been championed by its sister organization, Brady — one of the nation’s oldest gun violence prevention grassroots advocacy organizations.
